General Needs Housing

Endeavour Housing Association has been providing rented housing since 1974.  In the early years the Association modernised and refurbished street housing to very high standards mainly in the Teesvalley area. Since then the Association has developed new properties for a range of needs including older people, families and single people.

The Association has a strong reputation in regeneration initiatives and is a major partner in some exciting transformational areas. In Stockton they are involved in a £100 million development of Hardwick and in Hartlepool and Middlesbrough they have worked closely with New Deal for Communities to develop new housing as part of wider regeneration.

The Association has extensive experience in conversions of non residential buildings into general needs housing. This includes the conversion of a vicarage, bank, pub, restaurant, police station and a shop.

Whilst operating mainly in urban areas, it has experience of rural housing and section 106 developments to provide high demand affordable housing for rent and shared ownership.

The Associations is committed to working proactively and in partnership with communities, Local Authorities, the Housing Corporation and land owners to maximise the provision of high quality affordable housing.

Endeavour operates across the North East and North Yorkshire and has housing stock in the following Local Authority areas:

  • Darlington
  • Derwentside
  • Easington
  • Hambleton
  • Hartlepool
  • Middlesbrough
  • Redcar & Cleveland
  • Richmond
  • South Tyneside
  • Stockton
  • Sunderland
  • Teesdale

Endeavour recognises the importance of partnership working, not only with agencies, but also with its residents resulting in a number of properties being directly managed by two Tenant Management Co-operatives that have been working effectively for many years.

The diversity of the Associations skills and expertise can be demonstrated in their work on self-build for rent, their Asian elders scheme, the management of stock on behalf of others including three Almshouse charities, shared ownership, shared equity and a leasehold scheme for the elderly.
